Tiny hybrid robots made using stem cells from frog embryos could in the future be used to swim around human bodies to particular areas requiring medicine, or to gather microplastic within the oceans. The team from the University of Colorado Boulder believe their work paves the greatest way for future constructing structures that could “heal their very own cracks, suck up harmful toxins from the air or even glow on command”. The researchers developed a way to transform red bricks into a type of vitality storage system known as a supercapacitor. Although the research is still in the proof-of-concept stage, the scientists claim that partitions made of these bricks “could retailer a substantial quantity of energy” and can “be recharged lots of of hundreds of times inside an hour”. The hub shall be a pilot scheme and hopefully a proof of concept for the corporate behind it.
